2026 Gaspésie Heritage Awards

Do you know someone in Gaspésie who has successfully preserved the beauty of their old house, a group that has found a new purpose for a heritage building, or an individual who is actively passing on valuable traditional skills? Help them shine!

Submit a nomination for the Gaspésie Heritage Awards by June 22, 2026, and help celebrate inspiring local initiatives.

Culture Gaspésie, in collaboration with the Gaspésie Heritage Roundtable, invites you to submit a nomination for the Gaspésie Cultural Heritage Awards in three categories : Meticulous maintenance, Imaginative repurposing and Heritage bearer.

One nomination will be selected for each category from each of the participating RCMs and Mi’gmaq communities in Gaspésie. The finalists’ projects will be featured on the Culture Gaspésie website.

The public will then be invited to vote online between August 20 and September 20, 2026, for the People’s Choice Award.

A jury will select the three regional winners from among the finalists, who will be announced in a press release in October 2026. The winners will be honoured in a professional video clip highlighting their inspiring initiative and the Gaspésie heritage.

How to submit an application?
You must complete the online form for the category of your choice: (including details of the person, their achievements and what makes them an inspiration to the community) and send at least three credited photos to the following address : projets@culturegaspesie.org

CATEGORIES  :

Meticulous maintenance 

This award honours a citizen who has maintained their historic home on a daily basis in an exemplary manner in order to preserve its original or restored architectural features of heritage interest.  

Eligibility requirements

  • Be the owner and resident of an historic home in one of the following RCMs for at least one (1) year: Haute-Gaspésie, Côte-de-Gaspé, Rocher-Percé, Bonaventure, or Avignon; and
  • Agree to have a profile (name, photos of the person and their home) shared through Culture Gaspésie’s communication channels (website, social media, newsletter, press release, etc.).

Imaginative 
repurposing

This award celebrates the creativity of an individual or group that has repurposed an old building to give it a new lease on life while highlighting its heritage features.

Eligibility requirements

  • Be an individual, community group, business, or municipal entity that has completed a project to repurpose a heritage building located in one of the following RCMs: Haute-Gaspésie, Côte-de-Gaspé, Rocher-Percé, Bonaventure, or Avignon;
  • The work to adapt the building to its new use must have been completed between January 1, 2021, and May 15, 2026, must have preserved and/or highlighted heritage features, and the new use must still be active; and
  • Agree to have a profile (names, pictures of the people involved and the building) shared through Culture Gaspésie’s communication channels (website, social media, newsletter, press release, etc.).

Nomination form— Imaginative repurposing category


Heritage bearer

This award honours an individual or group whose work plays a vital role in passing on traditional practices and skills in Gaspésie.

Eligibility requirements

  • Be an artisan, artist or collective that has mastered a traditional practice which is actively being passed down in Gaspésie;
  • Have resided in one of the following MRCs for at least one (1) year: Haute-Gaspésie, Côte-de-Gaspé, Rocher-Percé, Bonaventure, or Avignon; and
  • Agree to have a profile (name, pictures of the individual or group and their craft) shared through Culture Gaspésie’s communication channels (website, social media, newsletter, press release, etc.).
